2018 has a lot of sequels coming
The end of 2017 has really seen a lot of sequels announced for next year, 2018 is looking to be a huge year for anime.
Like most of you, I am very excited for whats coming, especially the ones we have been waiting a good while for.
From whats been shown so far, there are a few that stand out for me, like for example SAO Alicization (Yes bring on the hate), High School DxD Hero, SDS S2 and FLCL 2.
The reason why these are my favorites is that I really enjoy these series, FLCL is a classical masterpiece and seeing it get a sequel is very interesting.
For High School DxD, it’s one of the few decent harems out there, season 3 apparently went off track (I still thought it was awesome) and hopefully season 4 will get it back on track.
SAO always has a mixed track record, so I’m mainly interested how the anime community can whine even more about this series.
Seven Deadly Sins had a very fun first season, and I’m looking forward to the final sin member and where the story will take us next.
True, there are a few I missed out, but these are the ones I have been waiting for the most, and I can’t wait to see what they will offer.
Will they live up to the hype?
What worries me the most however is will these sequels carry on the amazing stuff we’ve seen from their previous seasons.
This has always been the case of sequels, some can be great, some can be bad or not as good as the first series.
The sequel problem has made the reputation of some anime’s not as well received over the years, for example, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, Psycho-Pass, Nanbaka and Tokyo Ghoul, just to name a few.
Out of all of them, it is Tokyo Ghoul:re, because the first two seasons of Tokyo Ghoul deviated from the manga and I am worried how RE is going to fix it or what it will take out.
High School DxD hero is another one that I am worried about too, due to having a different studio in charge some things have been changed.
Personally, I’m ok with this, but recent comments I’ve seen have got me worried about it.
The Unknown sequels
Finally, there are the unknown sequels, these are anime’s we know are getting sequels, we just don’t know when they’ll arrive.
Anime’s like One Punch Man S2, Code Geass S3, and Steins;Gate 0 have been announced, but for when we’re unsure.
I know most of you are probably sick of waiting, but have patience we’ve got some goodies to keep us occupied.
Overall 2018 looks like its going to be a big year for anime, it also means I have a lot of stuff to catch up on too.
Hopefully, you guys enjoyed this little topic that’s been on my mind for a bit.
