What’s Your Countries Favorite Classic Anime? – Anime World Map

A couple of weeks ago we featured CableTV’s awesome anime state map, which showed us the most popular classic anime in each state. And now, for all our foreign readers, here’s something for you: An Anime World Map! Featuring your countries all-time favorite classic anime – so let’s take a look:

The princess is traveling the world!

  • Episodes: 1 (Movie)
  • Aired: JUL 12, 1997
  • Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
  • Studio: Studio Ghibli

As we mentioned in our Anime State Map post, our beloved Princess Mononoke is very popular in environmentally conservative places. This is why you can see her rank #1 in countries, like Singapore, Italy or Great Britain. It also makes her one of the most popular classic anime in the world, spreading through 4 different continents!

The Dragon Balls are hiding around the entire globe!

  • Episodes: 291
  • Aired: APR 1989 – JAN 1996
  • Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy
  • Studio: Toei Animation

This was probably already pretty predictable, but Dragon Ball Z isn’t only loved by the U.S. South Americas rankings are OVER 9.000 and even a few Afrikan countries seem to be addicted to Goku’s adventures.

HUGE attention for Trigun in Russia!

  • Episodes: 26
  • Aired: APR 1998 – SEP 1998
  • Genres: Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi
  • Studio: Madhouse

Trigun was never as popular in the country it was produced as it was in both the U.S and Russia. But even some European countries couldn’t look away when they found out about this insanely amazing anime! Japan, on the other hand, sticks with other classics, like Ghost in The Shell and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Gotta catch ’em all around the world!

  • Episodes: 276
  • Aired: APR 1997 – NOV 2002
  • Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy
  • Studio: OLM

Still, to this day, Pokémon is loved by millions of people around the world, and the map shows a few countries where the anime ranks especially high. Vietnam, for example, seems to be in looove with the little pocket monsters – and a few other Asian and Afrikan countries join the team as well!

Space Cowboys and Magical Fighters in South Korea?!

  • Episodes: 26
  • Aired: APR 1998 – APR 1999
  • Genres: Action, Comedy, Drama, Sci-Fi
  • Studio: Sunrise

  • Episodes: 1 (Movie)
  • Aired: JUL 12, 1997
  • Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
  • Studio: Studio Ghibli

Yeah, South Korea seems to love the obscure classics. So far, Cowboy Bebop, Sailor Moon and Berserk rank highest in this Asian country. Who would’ve thought that South Korea also has some Cowboys in their country?

Be sure to check out CableTV’s awesome blog post on this – they also mentioned some more great classic anime from the map!
