Cute Yaoi Moments: ’91 Days’ Episode 10 Review

You know how I’ve been complaining about the lack of backstory on Avilio’s part? Well, we got some on this episode.

Avilio’s backstory wasn’t much. But I’m happy! We got some sort of backstory. We get to see Avilio’s emotions better. It’s not character development. In fact, we should have seen this WAY before now. But I’ll give ’91 Days’ some benefit of the doubt. (Though, my patience was really stretching thin. We hadn’t seen much of Avilio’s past. What happened between his family’s death and his revenge?) We saw him with Corteo. Not in the past per se but at least not the present. We still don’t see the huge gap of time between Angelo and Avilio. It makes me mad. That sort of thing seems relevant. When did Angelo turn into Avilio? When did he pick up pickpocketing? When did he get to…wherever that is?
We got to see him as a nicer person even. Double whammy. (Also, does anyone else agree that Corteo and Avilio should just run away together and have cute yaoi moments? I do.)

And I’m crying? WHATT. Seeing Corteo in that position. Seeing AVILIO in that position tugs on my heartstrings. What? I’m not heartless. Truthfully, though, his sacrifice ran deep. Immensely so. Did he have to do it? Yes. Should he have? Not really.
That last line hits me, though. ‘I’ll see you again.’ No, sweet child, you shouldn’t. You will. In ninety billion years from now. But not now. Not yet.

But Corteo gains so much character development in this one episode. He truly is a good friend. He slips up. And is a total flop sometimes. But he’s good. Truly good. I honestly don’t think that Avilio deserves him. But that sliver of happiness, those hours of smiling and laughing, I think they were worth it for Avilio. I do think that Corteo’s developments could have been brought earlier on. But all’s well that ends well? I’m not sure what to say.
